Paddleboarding in Ploemeur: essential routes and walks
Would you like to take part in some water sports during your vacation in Morbihan? Why not try paddleboarding in Ploemeur ? This water sport is practiced with a surfboard and a paddle. The waves of the Atlantic Ocean are ideal for paddling. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced paddler, many of the schools around Ploemeur will be delighted to welcome you for paddling sessions.
Learn to stand-up paddle on Guidel beach
Guidel is a small commune in the Morbihan department, 15 minutes’ drive from Ploemeur. It’s the perfect spot to learn to paddle at your leisure. Guidel lies on the banks of the River Laïta, which flows directly into the ocean in the Anse du Pouldu. As a result, the sea is less rough than in other parts of Morbihan.
There are several surf and stand-up paddle clubs on site. You can book packages of several lessons or individual sessions, as you wish. Are you already familiar with this water sport and would like to practice on your own? Several schools, such as YouSurf or Laïta Location, offer equipment rental for a few hours or a full day.
Rent a paddle on Ploemeur’s Fort Bloqué beach
If you’re staying at a campsite in Ploemeur, paddleboarding is just a stone’s throw away. It’s possible to hire paddle equipment on the Fort Bloqué beach. ESB (École de Surf de Bretagne) offers rentals from 2 hours to several days. So you can go paddling in Ploemeur, independently and at times to suit you.
Rental is direct from the ESB school in Guidel. On-site instructors will be happy to inform you about tide times and weather conditions for a safe paddling session on Fort Bloqué beach. Contact the ESB center for more information on rental.
Learn to paddle with your family at a surf school in Larmor-Plage
Larmor-Plage, like Guidel, is also a well-known surfing spot in Morbihan. Many other water sports can be enjoyed here, including kite surfing, kayaking and stand-up paddling. Some surf schools even offer paddleboard lessons for children as young as 4. It’s the ideal place to learn to paddle in Ploemeur with your family!
As at the region’s other spots, you can either book lessons (individual or group) or hire equipment (board, wetsuit and vest). If you’re a fan of paddleboarding, you’ll be pleased to know that every August, the “Monde de Yannael” association organizes a paddleboard festival in Larmor-Plage.
