Where to swim in Ploemeur?
Welcome to Ploemeur, the Morbihan seaside town renowned for its exceptional coastline, numerous beaches and coves. Facilities, tourism, accessibility and nearby amenities: follow the guide to discover the best beaches for swimming in Ploemeur.
The Perello and Petit-Perello beaches
From your campsite in Ploemeur, you’re just a ten-minute walk from the Perello and Petit-Perello beaches. The Perello beach is one of the most beautiful in the resort. Equipped with sanitary facilities and showers, and supervised in July and August, this fine sandy beach is particularly popular with families.
The Petit-Perello beach is nestled in a charming little cove, overlooking the island of Groix. Here, the shiny sand makes the water sparkle, especially at night. In the evening, the beach is frequented by young people.
Fort-Bloqué beach
To the west of Ploemeur, near the Lannenec pond, the Fort-Bloqué beach stretches 1,900 m to the neighboring town of Guidel. Made up of sand and pebbles, this urban beach is equipped with sanitary facilities, beach showers and a drinking water distribution point. Le Fort-Bloqué is a surf spot suitable for beginners and advanced surfers alike. Part of the beach is supervised at certain times.
Courégant beach
This small sandy beach is located on the greenway linking Kerfichant to Lorient. It’s easy to get to, with parking, a camper van area and sanitary facilities. Nearby the Courégant beach, you’ll also find shops and friendly seaside restaurants (Bord de mer). Perfect for a dinner away from the campsite after a crazy day in the water!
Anse du Stole beach
Ploemeur’s first bathing beach, close to the seaside resort of Larmor-Plage and the port of Lomener. It’s one of the few beaches in southern Brittany to have been awarded the Handiplage label. The Anse du Stole beach is sheltered from the wind and its calm waters are ideal for family bathing.
Port Fontaine beach
Located just beyond the port of Lomener, Port Fontaine beach is a charming cove facing the island of Groix. With its crystal-clear waters and fine sand, Port Fontaine beach is an untouristy place to swim in Ploemeur.
Port Blanc beach in Kerroch
This small beach in Ploemeur, well sheltered in a cove, is equipped with sanitary facilities and showers. Accessible via a staircase, it faces the port of Kerroch, a mooring area for small craft. Although unsupervised, the calm waters of the Kerroch beach are perfectly suited to children.
Lomener harbour beach
The Port de Lomener, in Morbihan, is worthy of a postcard. If you’re looking for sublime shots for your Instagram, this little beach is the place to be. Here, you can relax on the terrace of a café or restaurant and watch the most beautiful sunset in France.
Kaolins naturist beach
If you want to know where to swim in Ploemeur, there’s one last beach to consider. But… under certain conditions! This vast stretch of white sand takes its name from its proximity to the kaolin quarries. The beach has sanitary facilities and showers, and is supervised during certain hours in July and August. Naturism is authorized on Plage des Kaolins by municipal decree.
Kaolins beach is not recommended for families with children. Children can easily get lost in the many dunes. What’s more, in some places the steep slope makes swimming dangerous for both children and inexperienced swimmers.
During your stay in Morbihan, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to swimming in Ploemeur. Whether you’re looking for a tourist beach in town, an intimate cove or a supervised family spot, discover the coastline opposite the island of Groix and enjoy an unforgettable vacation in Brittany.
