Visit Morbihan in 3 days
Looking for a seaside getaway? How about a 3-day visit to Morbihan? This region of southern Brittany abounds in varied landscapes, historic sites and pleasant hiking trails. To make sure you don’t miss a thing during your stay, discover an itinerary of the most beautiful places to visit in the heart of Morbihan.
Day 1: Lorient and the island of Groix
Lorient and the surrounding area offer a multitude of places of interest. To visit this part of Morbihan, we recommend you book a hotel or campsite in Ploemeur.
This makes it easy to get to all the must-see places around Lorient. The town immediately invites you to take a stroll, with its central port, pedestrian zone and Discovery Tower.
The villages near Lorient, such as Larmor-Plage and Ploemeur, are also full of charm. To complete your visit, take a ferry to the island of Groix. This boat trip allows you to admire sites such as the Gâvres peninsula, the village of Locmiquélic and the town’s former submarine base.
Once on the island of Groix, set off on foot to discover the charming villages along the coastal footpaths. Numerous cycle paths are also available.
Day 2: Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan
The Gulf of Morbihan is home to Vannes, one of Brittany’s prettiest medieval towns. Are you staying at a campsite near Lorient? You’ll need just over an hour by car to reach Vannes. Nevertheless, it’s well worth the detour. And even if your stay lasts only 3 days, Vannes, with its ramparts, town center and traditional half-timbered houses, offers you a historic journey to the heart of Brittany. The Vannes region is also home to many tourist attractions to visit during your 3-day stay in the Gulf of Morbihan. Depending on the time you have available, discover the Château de Suscinio, stroll along the beaches of the Rhuys peninsula or head for the Landes de Lanvaux. To round off the day in style, head for La Pointe de Kerpenhir. Here, you’ll enjoy an exceptional view of the Gulf of Morbihan.
Day 3: Quiberon peninsula or Camors forest
This day’s itinerary will depend on what you’re looking for. Are you visiting Morbihan to recharge your batteries by the sea? Then the Quiberon peninsula is a must. This peninsula, one of Morbihan’s most popular tourist destinations, will seduce you with its wild coastline and sandy beaches. Take a detour to Carnac to admire an incredible alignment of megaliths.
Do you prefer nature walks? Then head for the Camors forest, 20 km north of Auray. Over more than 650 hectares, several hiking trails await you, whether on foot or by bike. Each circuit guides you to the discovery of hidden treasures, such as the ruins of the Château de Comorre, the Fontaine Saint-Jean or the Menhir de l’Etoile.
