Lorient, a city facing the sea.

Lorient is a city full of history, which was completely destroyed during the Second World War. Completely rebuilt for 20 years in accordance with the outline of the pre-war plan, it is one of the few rebuilt cities to obtain the "Pays et Villes d'art et d'histoire" label. The City has 4 buildings protected under the Historic Monuments Act, including one classified as a historic monument: the two pavilions of the Gabriel Hotel.

The first ship to be built was built in 1667 by the East India Company. There are currently 6 ports in Lorient: fishing port (the 2nd largest in France), yachting, military, commercial and passenger port, not to mention the former submarine base which includes an offshore racing centre.
